Deck overview

This Grixis (U/B/R) deck is helmed by Sauron, the Dark Lord, a powerful value engine that rewards opponents' spells with Amass and turns the Ring tempts trigger into a massive hand refill (discard hand, draw four). The deck marries two synergistic themes: an Amass / Army beatdown plan backed by The Ring's temptation triggers, and a reanimation subtheme that uses cheap spells like Reanimate and Animate Dead to cheat huge creatures into play early. The primary win condition is combat damage from a growing Army or from reanimated haymakers like Archon of Cruelty and Sheoldred, Whispering One, with Syr Konrad, the Grim offering a drain backup. Recursion and card flow are abundant, but the deck is heavily dependent on the commander for its engine and can be slowed by graveyard hate.
