Let Me Steal Your Cards by Dedspec

Format: Commander

Commander: Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern

Bracket: 4

DeckCheck Threat Index: 46

Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Tergrid, God of Fright to turn symmetrical discard and sacrifice effects into an overwhelming, asymmetric theft engine. Early turns establish mana acceleration through rocks, rituals, and mana doublers like Crypt Ghast and Cabal Coffers. On Turn 4, the deck deploys Tergrid and follows up on Turn 5 with devastating group discard and edict spells such as Dark Deal, Rankle's Prank, and Plaguecrafter. Tergrid immediately steals all discarded permanent cards and sacrificed nontoken permanents directly to your battlefield, devastating opponents' hands and board states in one stroke. Continuous stax pieces like Oppression and Bottomless Pit maintain a hard resource lock, preventing opponents from recovering. The deck converts this dominant board state into a win over two response cycles by attacking with stolen creatures, draining life with Tinybones, Trinket Thief, or utilizing Bolas's Citadel.
