Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs commander Davvol, Evincar of Rath with high-velocity aristocrats and combo engines. Its primary win condition is the compact two-card combination of Witherbloom Apprentice and Chain of Smog. By casting Chain of Smog on yourself and repeatedly copying it, you trigger Apprentice's Magecraft ability infinitely to drain all three opponents from 40 to 0 life on Turn 4. Fast mana dorks, rocks, and rituals (Dark Ritual, Culling the Weak, Sol Ring) accelerate deployment, while green creature tutors (Green Sun's Zenith, Finale of Devastation) reliably fetch key pieces. If the primary combo is disrupted, the deck pivots into redundant aristocrat loops using Forsaken Miner, Gravecrawler, Warren Soultrader, and Phyrexian Altar alongside drain engines like Blood Artist and Bastion of Remembrance. Heavy card draw from Necropotence, The One Ring, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician fuels consistent reanimation and backup wins.
