Deck overview

This is a high-power Esper control deck helmed by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed that grinds value through life-loss triggers, tax enchantments, and premium stack interaction before closing with Bolas's Citadel. Y'shtola rewards casting noncreature spells of mana value 3 or greater by draining the table and gaining life, while her end-step clause draws cards whenever anyone loses 4+ life-synergies the deck feeds constantly via pings, tutors that cost life, and opposing interaction. The primary win path is resolving Bolas's Citadel, pairing it with Sensei's Divining Top or Necropotence to chain spells from the top of the library, multiply drains (especially under Delney, Streetwise Lookout or Y'shtola clones), and finish with Citadel's ten-permanent activation or accumulated life loss. Early turns prioritize rocks, treasure engines, and taxes (Smothering Tithe, Monologue Tax, Rhystic Study), then lock the stack with free counters and removal while the Citadel engine takes over.
