Deck overview

This mono-blue combo deck is built around the unique deckbuilding rule of Sphinx's Approach, running 42 copies to create an exceptionally consistent draw engine. Commander Baral, Chief of Compliance reduces the casting cost of every instant and sorcery, allowing Sphinx's Approach to be cast for just {U}{U}. By Turn 5, casting five copies of Approach exiles four from the graveyard to tutor Sphinx of the Chimes directly onto the battlefield. Sphinx of the Chimes immediately discards pairs of identical Approach cards to draw the entire library at zero mana cost. After drawing all cards, the deck untaps on Turn 6 with comprehensive counterspell protection, uses High Tide and Frantic Search to generate mana, and closes the game through Laboratory Maniac.
