Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is a synergistic midrange strategy centered on Smaug, Wicked Worm. The game plan revolves around generating large quantities of Treasure tokens and capitalizing on artifact entry and sacrifice triggers to drain opponents. Early turns focus on developing mana, deploying low-cost artifact pingers such as Reckless Fireweaver and Ingenious Artillerist, and creating incidental Treasure tokens. Casting Smaug scales with opposing artifact counts, refunding mana and turning subsequent Treasure spending into card draw. In the mid-to-late game, the deck pivots into aggressive Dragon threats like Cavern-Hoard Dragon, Goldspan Dragon, and Hellkite Tyrant, or alternate win conditions like Revel in Riches. While the list features solid creature removal and resilient recursion tricks like Undying Malice, it remains vulnerable to noncreature permanents, mass exile sweepers, and early aggression.
