Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black group-slug and lifedrain attrition strategy commanded by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The primary game plan focuses on deploying Sheoldred ahead of curve via efficient mana rocks and rituals, then weaponizing every card drawn across the table. Synergistic enchantments and artifacts like Teferi's Puzzle Box, Dark Deal, Underworld Dreams, and Painful Quandary turn routine draw steps and spellcasts into devastating life loss for opponents, while Sheoldred continuously inflates your own life total. In addition to steady attrition, the deck contains an infinite life-drain win condition through Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond, Enduring Tenacity, or Bloodthirsty Conqueror. A robust removal suite featuring free and low-cost removal such as Deadly Rollick, Snuff Out, and Toxic Deluge ensures aggressive creature boards are kept in check, while card-draw engines like Necrodominance, Greed, and Black Market Connections maintain an endless stream of resources.
