Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Control-Combo deck that pairs high-efficiency win conditions with proactive hatebear disruption and lifegain synergy. Commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed, the deck leverages noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater to drain opponents and generate steady life and card advantage. Its primary victory route is the compact Thassa's Oracle combo paired with Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact, capable of closing the game on Turn 4 with zero response cycles. An extensive suite of black tutors ensures consistent assembly, while proactive tax and stax elements like Drannith Magistrate, Lavinia, Azorius Renegade, Blind Obedience, and Teferi, Time Raveler slow down opposing game plans. When attempting to win, premier shielding from Silence, Grand Abolisher, and free countermagic protects the line against enemy interaction. Should the primary combo fail, redundant lifedrain loops featuring Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose provide resilient backup paths to victory.
