Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Voltron Control strategy commanded by Phage the Untouchable. Phage possesses a lethal combat trigger that immediately eliminates any player dealt combat damage, paired with a mandatory game-loss trigger if cast from anywhere other than hand. The deck solves this drawback through a dedicated package of safety enablers including Torpor Orb, Sundial of the Infinite, Campfire, and Command Beacon. While developing its mana with rocks and doublers like Crypt Ghast, the deck controls the board using efficient spot removal and sweepers like Toxic Deluge. Once Phage enters play safely on Turn 6, equipment such as Whispersilk Cloak and evasion lands like Rogue's Passage ensure clean combat connections. If Phage is removed, extensive graveyard-to-hand recursion bypasses commander tax by returning Phage to hand for recast. Alternate win routes such as Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon and big mana Exsanguinate ensure resilience when Phage is contained.
