Deck overview

This Selesnya midrange deck utilizes Samwise Gamgee to convert creature deployments into Food tokens and recur historic permanents from the graveyard. The strategy focuses on building a resilient board of Halflings, Soldiers, and artifact tokens, amplifying them with +1/+1 counters via Rosie Cotton of South Lane or multiplying creatures through Horn of Gondor. Mana development runs at an ordinary pace, transitioning from early utility creatures into mid-game engine pieces like The One Ring, Peregrin Took, and Elven Chorus. The deck achieves victory through wide combat damage across several turn rotations, using The Battle of Bywater to sweep opposing blockers while preserving its smaller token army. While it possesses strong recursion and value retention, its reliance on combat damage without mass haste leaves it vulnerable to well-timed board wipes.
