Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos Dragon midrange strategy led by Smaug, Wicked Worm. The game plan revolves around generating large pools of Treasure tokens to rapidly deploy high-cost flying Dragons while converting Treasure spending into continuous card draw through Smaug's static ability. Early turns focus on mana ramp, cost reduction, and looting spells to set up the board. Once Smaug and supporting payoffs like Dragon Tempest, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and Mirkwood Bats are assembled, the deck rapidly pressures the entire table through ETB burn, life drain, and evasive aerial combat. Board wipes such as Crux of Fate and Desolation of Smaug act as one-sided resets that clear opposing blockers while preserving the Dragon army. The endgame closes decisively via extra combat phases or a massive Treasure-fueled Exsanguinate.
