Deck overview

This deck is a Sultai midrange strategy centered on Zaxara, the Exemplary, converting every X-spell into board presence while accelerating mana. Early turns focus on mana ramp through specialized pieces like Nexos, Troyan, Gutsy Explorer, and Elementalist's Palette. Once Zaxara enters the battlefield, every subsequent X-spell generates a scalable Hydra token. The deck multiplies this board presence using +1/+1 counter engines like Corpsejack Menace, Kalonian Hydra, and Unbound Flourishing. For card flow, scalable draw spells such as Blue Sun's Zenith, Pull from Tomorrow, and Mathemagics keep the hand full. Combat evasion from Herald of Secret Streams and Sphere Grid enables massive alpha strikes, while Exsanguinate and Walking Ballista provide direct life drain to close games. While the list eschews infinite combos like Freed from the Real, its redundant threat density, flexible removal suite, and explosive mana generation create a resilient, high-power battlecruiser engine.
