Deck overview

This mono-black control deck turns Horobi, Death's Wail into a repeatable, one-sided board wipe engine. By exploiting Horobi's rule text—which destroys any creature whenever it becomes the target of any spell or ability—the deck converts cheap, benign targeting effects like Tooth of Chiss-Goria, Scale of Chiss-Goria, Hex Parasite, and Tower of the Magistrate into instant-speed removal. Cauldron of Souls and Touch of Darkness act as instant one-sided board wipes. Once the board is locked down, the deck accumulates charge counters on Black Market and fuels Cabal Coffers to generate massive mana. It converts this advantage into victory by stealing opposing graveyards with Rise of the Dark Realms or Gisa, Glorious Resurrector, or draining all opponents simultaneously with a lethal Exsanguinate. While the engine completely suppresses creature-based decks, Horobi's symmetrical trigger leaves it vulnerable to any targeted opposing ability, requiring careful timing and reliance on commander recursion tools.
