Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control and self-mill strategy built around Emet-Selch, Unsundered // Hades, Sorcerer of Eld. In the early turns, the deck sets up mana and uses its commander alongside low-cost surveil and mill spells to stock the graveyard. Once the graveyard reaches 14 cards, Emet-Selch transforms into Hades, Sorcerer of Eld, turning the graveyard into a second hand for the rest of the game. The deck leverages this resource advantage by casting high-impact payoffs like Rise from the Tides, Consuming Aberration, and Welcome the Dead to overwhelm the table with large creatures and token swarms. An efficient suite of counterspells and instant-speed removal disrupts opponents, while cheap protection spells shield key permanents. The deck closes games reliably on turn 8 through massive combat damage backed by attrition drains.
