The Fire Nation Attacks

Format: Commander

Commander: Ozai, the Phoenix King

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos aggro-midrange deck built around the Fire Nation's firebending mechanic and helmed by Ozai, the Phoenix King. The plan is to develop a board of attacking creatures and Vehicles, generate bursts of red mana from firebending triggers in combat, and convert that mana into lethal pressure. Ozai, the Phoenix King is a six-mana haste threat that attacks immediately, produces four red mana on attack, and-critically-turns any mana that would empty from the pool into sticky red mana, while also granting himself flying and indestructible once six or more mana is floating. Primary wins come from combat damage amplified by Fated Firepower, Twin Blades, and go-wide tokens, with Torment of Hailfire as the premier high-X finisher once firebending mana piles up. Secondary paths include the saga The Rise of Sozin // Fire Lord Sozin for a wipe-into-reanimator turn and incremental value from Clue tokens. The deck plays as a combat-driven midrange strategy that weaponizes attack triggers rather than infinite combos.
