Deck overview

This deck is an explosive Izzet spellslinger combo list piloted by Niv-Mizzet, Parun. The primary game plan accelerates mana through efficient artifacts and cost-reducing creatures to deploy Niv-Mizzet, then attaches a Curiosity effect to draw through the library and burn opponents out at instant speed. Alongside this primary combo, the list runs an unconventional package of twenty-three copies of Sphinx's Approach, which provides relentless card draw and cheats Sphinx of the Chimes into play to cycle through the entire deck without spending mana. A compact Underworld Breach, Brain Freeze, and Lion's Eye Diamond storm line offers a fast alternate win condition that functions entirely independent of the commander. With a premier suite of free countermagic including Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, and Force of Will, the deck reliably defends its win attempts and disrupts opposing strategies while maintaining swift, deterministic turn-four closing speed.
