Valgvavoth, Harrower of Souls - Group Slug by RichieeRicch

Format: Commander

Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Rakdos deck, helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls, is a group-slug strategy that punishes opponents for drawing cards and losing life. The commander turns every opponent's first life loss each turn into a +1/+1 counter and a card, creating a snowballing advantage engine. The deck deploys a dense suite of symmetrical pain effects-Underworld Dreams, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Painful Quandary-to trigger Valgavoth repeatedly while also draining the table. Removal, board wipes, and goad effects (Disrupt Decorum, Kardur, Doomscourge) keep the board manageable. The primary win condition is commander damage from a rapidly growing Valgavoth, backed by incremental life loss from permanents like Massacre Wurm and Polluted Bonds. No infinite combos are present; the deck grinds out value and closes with a large demon or a mass-life-loss spell such as Peer into the Abyss.
