Deck overview

This deck is a five-color midrange engine built around Omnath, Locus of All and the mutate mechanic. Omnath functions as a steady card-advantage engine and mana reservoir, converting unspent mana into black mana while drawing an extra card each turn. The deck leverages a deep package of Ikoria mutate creatures to turn low-cost non-Human bases into multifaceted threats. Key multipliers like Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief and Vesuvan Duplimancy duplicate mutate spells, triggering exponential board growth and card flow. Heavy hitters such as Auspicious Starrix and Nethroi, Apex of Death flood the battlefield with permanents, while Insatiable Hemophage drains opponents directly. The strategy develops reliably through dense 1–2 CMC ramp, reaches critical board dominance by Turn 6, and finishes opponents with trample combat damage and life drain by Turn 8. While vulnerable to sweepers that punish tall creature stacks, the deck retains strong recovery and redundancy across its mutate suite.
