B3 Smaug by user5445749

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug, Wicked Worm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos treasure deck helmed by Smaug, Wicked Worm, whose ETB bursts out a number of tapped Treasures equal to the artifacts your opponents control, and whose second ability draws a card (at the cost of 1 life) whenever you cast a spell using Treasure mana. The deck's plan is to generate overwhelming Treasure volume through Xorn, Professional Face-Breaker, Descent into Avernus, and Ancient Copper Dragon, then convert that mass into table-wide drain damage via Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice, Mayhem Devil, and friends. It closes games through the alternate-win enchantments Revel in Riches and Hellkite Tyrant, Knuckles the Echidna's 30-artifact trigger, or the Aggravated Assault + Goldspan Dragon infinite-combat loop. The commander is a powerful draw engine and Treasure burst, but the deck's actual win conditions live in the 99.
