Deck overview

This deck is a specialized Izzet artifact combo-control strategy commanded by Tawnos, Urza's Apprentice. The list focuses on charge counter accumulation, untap synergies, and proliferation. Early turns focus on establishing mana velocity through low-cost mana rocks and casting utility engines like Insight Engine and Coretapper. Midgame play controls the board state using a dense suite of 12 counterspells and instant-speed mass bounce spells such as Desynchronization and Evacuation. The deck searches for its primary win condition using broad artifact tutors like Fabricate and Whir of Invention to assemble Filigree Sages and Empowered Autogenerator. Once Autogenerator reaches three charge counters, Filigree Sages generates infinite mana and infinite charge counters. This enables a same-turn win by drawing the library with Staff of Domination, destroying all opposing permanents with Lux Cannon, or looping extra turns via Magistrate's Scepter.
