Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari midrange strategy centered on Rendmaw, Creaking Nest. By playing cards with two or more card types—such as artifact lands, enchantment creatures, and kindred spells—Rendmaw fills every player's board with 2/2 black Bird tokens that are goaded for the rest of the game. While opponents are forced to batter each other in the air, you break parity through asymmetric pump effects like Coat of Arms, board wipes with drain like Massacre Wurm, and massive burst card draw from Pygmy Kavu. Supporting engines like Meren of Clan Nel Toth and Ayara, First of Locthwain convert dying tokens into life swings and card advantage. The deck develops mana on early turns, establishes Rendmaw on Turn 4, and orchestrates mutual destruction among opponents by Turn 7.
