Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain midrange strategy led by Karlov of the Ghost Council. It capitalizes on low-cost incremental lifegain permanents like Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, and Authority of the Consuls to rapidly place +1/+1 counters on Karlov and other growing threats. The deck leverages this lifegain engine to control the board by exiling opposing creatures with Karlov's activated ability while threatening lethal commander damage. In the mid-to-late game, the deck transitions into broad life drain using cards like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Marauding Blight-Priest, and Cliffhaven Vampire, or achieves sudden victories through infinite drain loops such as Exquisite Blood combined with Sanguine Bond or Heliod, Sun-Crowned with Walking Ballista. With a low land count of 30 lands and minimal card draw, the deck prioritizes aggressive early curve-outs and combat pressure over extended attrition wars.
