DeckCheck Threat Index: 60

Deck overview

This Mardu deck utilizes Kaalia of the Vast to bypass the steep casting costs of powerful Angels, Demons, and Dragons. Fueled by dense fast mana like Sol Ring, Mana Vault, and Dark Ritual, Kaalia enters play on Turn 2 or 3 and attacks on Turn 4 to put game-ending threats directly onto the battlefield. Key payoffs include Master of Cruelties for immediate single-target player elimination, Avacyn, Angel of Hope paired with Armageddon for total asymmetric land destruction, and Vilis, Broker of Blood for overwhelming card advantage. A robust suite of silence effects and free spells, including Grand Abolisher, Silence, and Deflecting Swat, protects Kaalia during vulnerable attack windows. Secondary cheat packages like Sneak Attack and Reanimate ensure the deck can deploy high-impact threats even if the commander is removed. Disruptive hatebears like Drannith Magistrate and Opposition Agent slow opposing development while this deck executes its aggressive game plan.
