Deck overview

This Abzan deck blends traditional aristocrat sacrifice engines with aggressive +1/+1 counter distribution. Helmed by Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan, the deck converts cheap, recursive creatures and token generators into growing combat threats while weaponizing their deaths. Early turns focus on establishing mana rocks and disposable creatures such as Doomed Traveler and Infestation Sage. Once Felothar or support pieces like Bartolomé del Presidio and Teysa Karlov enter, every sacrifice buffs the team and triggers attrition drains from Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim or Mirkwood Bats. The deck steadily pressures opponents along two axes: heavy trample combat damage and unavoidable direct life loss. While vulnerable to mass exile effects and lacking stack countermagic, its high density of token generators, death triggers, and recursion pieces provides consistent rebuilding power and steady mid-game momentum.
