Deck overview

This is a unique Orzhov Shadowborn Apostle deck commanded by Athreos, God of Passage. The primary strategy involves flooding the board with 28 copies of Shadowborn Apostle, using them both as sacrifice fodder to tutor high-impact Demons and as fuel for a death-trigger drain engine. Athreos itself acts as a recursion engine, returning sacrificed Apostles to hand unless opponents pay 3 life-a tax that quickly becomes prohibitive. The deck leverages Thrumming Stone to chain-cast Apostles en masse, Teysa Karlov to double death triggers, and a suite of Blood Artist-style effects to drain the table. The win condition is a grindy, value-driven attrition: assemble a Demon like Razaketh, the Foulblooded or Vilis, Broker of Blood to tutor further pieces, then grind out opponents via repeated life loss. While the deck lacks a true infinite combo, its sheer redundancy and resilient recursion make it a methodical, hard-to-disrupt engine.
