Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu aggressive build commanded by Kaalia of the Vast. Its core strategy revolves around accelerating Kaalia onto the battlefield on Turn 3 using low-cost mana rocks and rituals, then declaring an attack on Turn 4 to put an enormous Angel or Demon directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Heavy hitters like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Aurelia, the Warleader, and Archfiend of Depravity rapidly multiply combat damage or control opposing boards. The deck supports this aggressive core with a dense suite of flexible exile-based spot removal and one-sided sweepers such as Ruinous Ultimatum. However, because Kaalia requires attacking with cards held in hand, the deck is susceptible to instant-speed removal targeting its commander before attacks are declared, and can suffer from hand depletion without dedicated draw engines active.
