Deck overview

Surrak, Elusive Hunter leads an aggressive Mono-Green Stompy deck designed to overpower opponents through raw mana velocity, massive trampling creatures, and relentless card flow. Surrak serves as both an uncounterable 4/3 threat and a built-in insurance policy, drawing cards whenever your creatures are targeted. The deck uses an extensive ramp package of 16 one- and two-mana accelerants to jump ahead of curve, establishing engine pieces like Elemental Bond and Garruk's Uprising by Turn 3 or 4. From there, it transitions into overwhelming beaters such as Railway Brawler, Defiler of Vigor, Ghalta, Primal Hunger, and Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus. A dense suite of efficient instant protection, including Tamiyo's Safekeeping and Sylvan Safekeeper, safeguards key threats from spot removal. While the deck lacks compact infinite combos and remains vulnerable to non-destruction sweepers like Farewell and Cyclonic Rift, its exceptional redundancy, resilient board presence, and sheer combat arithmetic reliably close games by Turn 7.
