Deck overview

This mono-black control deck grinds value and closes with life-loss, poison, or alternate-win effects. The primary engine is Bloodchief Ascension plus The Master of Lake-town, where life loss mills opponents and mill triggers further life loss to drain the table. Secondary paths include infect kills with Skithiryx, Phyrexian Crusader, Grafted Exoskeleton, Phyresis and Tainted Strike, and halving effects from Grievous Wound and Unstoppable Slasher, plus Gray Merchant devotion drain. Zenos yae Galvus acts as a one-sided -2/-2 sweeper that can transform into Shinryu, an 8/8 flying finisher with a political win condition. Maralen of the Mornsong with Opposition Agent serves as a hidden commander lock.
