Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Hazel of the Rootbloom and revolves around generating, duplicating, and leveraging Squirrel and Food tokens for massive mana acceleration, card draw, and lethal combat or life-drain finishes. In the early turns, the deck deploys cheap token enablers and land ramp to cast Hazel by Turn 3 or 4. Hazel's end-step duplication quickly compounds token counts while her tap ability converts those tokens into large amounts of mana. The deck converts this mana advantage on Turn 5 into either the infinite creature combo of Ivy Lane Denizen and Scurry Oak, or an overwhelming board buffed by Beastmaster Ascension, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, or End-Raze Forerunners. Opponents are drained through aristocrats payoffs like Mirkwood Bats and Nadier's Nightblade or eliminated in combat on Turn 6. While vulnerable to sweepers and lacking countermagic, the deck possesses high internal redundancy and rapid recovery.
