Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Aristocrats and Lifegain combo engine helmed by Athreos, God of Passage. It operates by converting creature deaths and life total fluctuations into steady opponent attrition while building toward decisive game-ending combos. The commander presents opponents with a punishing tax: pay 3 life or allow dying creatures to return directly to your hand, creating constant downward pressure on enemy life totals. The deck controls the board with asymmetric removal like Grave Pact, Toxic Deluge, and Liesa, Forgotten Archangel, while cushioning its own life total through soul sisters and lifelink effects. Its primary path to victory revolves around assembling an infinite life-drain loop using Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror paired with Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Enduring Tenacity. Alternatively, explosive mana generation from Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast fuels massive Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate casts to drain the table.
