Format: Commander

Commander: Rafiq of the Many

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a classic Bant voltron deck built around Rafiq of the Many and the exalted mechanic. The strategy is to assemble a small board of exalted creatures, then attack with Rafiq alone. Each exalted trigger gives him +1/+1, and Rafiq's own double strike means each +1/+1 becomes two points of commander damage. The deck supplements this with auras and pump spells to push through the 21 damage needed for a commander-kill. Finest Hour provides a second combat phase, allowing a one-turn kill if Rafiq is sufficiently large. Sovereigns of Lost Alara fetches auras on attack, providing a virtual tutor for the best aura at the moment. The deck is linear and lacks a backup plan beyond combat damage, with no recursion or combos.
