Deck overview

This deck is a mono-green Hydra tribal and stompy strategy commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The primary game plan focuses on using efficient early ramp to cast Gargos on turn 4. Once Gargos enters the battlefield, its static ability reduces the cost of all Hydra spells by {4}, allowing the deck to flood the board with massive X-cost creatures at a fraction of their normal mana investment. In addition, whenever a friendly creature is targeted by any spell, Gargos fights an opposing creature, turning cheap 1-mana protection spells into one-sided removal. The deck converts these oversized creatures into sustained card draw using power-based engines like Elemental Bond and Garruk's Uprising. It finishes games between turns 5 and 7 by overwhelming opponents with trampling combat damage amplified by +1/+1 counter doublers like Kalonian Hydra and damage multipliers like Unnatural Growth.
