Deck overview

This deck is a Jund -1/-1 counters midrange control strategy commanded by Auntie Ool, Cursewretch. The primary game plan revolves around turning -1/-1 counters into asymmetric card advantage and life drain. Early turns focus on mana ramp and deploying low-cost counter engines like Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Sinister Gnarlbark. By Turn 4, Auntie Ool enters play to monetize counter placements by drawing cards whenever friendly creatures receive counters and draining opponents whenever their creatures are blighted. In the mid-game, the deck establishes dominant board control through mass wither and counter distributors such as Carnifex Demon, Soul Snuffers, and Midnight Banshee, paired with Kulrath Knight to completely shut down opposing attacks and blocks. While the deck boasts efficient permanent removal and creature theft with Necroskitter, it lacks counterspells and proactive protection, relying on high card velocity and resilient recursive threats to close games out by Turn 9.
