Deck overview

This mono-black deck is commanded by Mortarion, Daemon Primarch, who turns aggressive self-inflicted life loss into an evasive army of 2/2 menace Astartes Warrior tokens. The strategy uses self-damage engines like Necropotence, Greed, Wall of Blood, and Black Market Connections to draw cards and trigger Mortarion at each end step. These tokens apply heavy combat pressure and fuel aristocrat drain triggers from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Mirkwood Bats, and Ayara, First of Locthwain. When combat is obstructed, the deck leverages massive mana generation from Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast into game-ending life drains via Exsanguinate and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or closes instantly using the infinite two-card combo of Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. Driven by exceptional card draw velocity, the deck constantly refills its hand to outvalue and overwhelm opponents.
