Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black control and burn strategy piloted by Starscream, Power Hungry // Starscream, Seeker Leader. The game plan revolves around exploiting the Monarch mechanic to convert card draw into direct life loss. Starscream deploys on Turn 3 via More Than Meets the Eye as an evasive, hasty Vehicle to claim the Monarch, flipping on Turn 4 into its front-face creature form. The deck maintains control using an exhaustive suite of efficient removal spells, deathtouch deterrents, and asymmetric pieces like Meekstone. Its primary kill vector capitalizes on explosive draw spells—principally Peer into the Abyss and Necrologia—which draw dozens of cards in a single action, triggering Starscream to deal 70 to 80+ targeted damage and decimating the table in a single turn cycle. Supported by tutors and rituals, the deck blends resilient defensive attrition with a compact burst-finish capability.
