Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is a specialized lifegain combo-control strategy led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary game plan revolves around generating incremental card and life advantage through passive lifegain engines while assembling an infinite drain loop with Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror alongside Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Sanguine Bond, Enduring Tenacity, or Marauding Blight-Priest. The commander acts as a potent draw engine, paying life to convert lifegain into raw card velocity, as well as an on-demand combo enabler that pings each opponent to start the loop. Robust tax pieces like Blind Obedience, Authority of the Consuls, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse slow aggressive opponents and punish spellcasting, allowing the deck to safely assemble its pieces by Turn 4 and close the table with an instant-speed infinite drain kill on Turn 5.
