Deck overview

This deck is a specialized Dimir tempo and cheat strategy commanded by Satoru Umezawa. The primary game plan curves a cheap, unblockable 1-drop creature into a Turn 3 Satoru, unlocking the ability to ninjutsu any creature in hand for four mana ({2}{U}{B}) on Turn 4. Because ninjutsu is an activated ability that puts creatures directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking, the deck bypasses conventional counterspells and sorcery-speed interaction while dropping format-defining bombs such as Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Archon of Cruelty, and Archfiend of Despair. Each ninjutsu activation triggers Satoru to dig three cards deep, maintaining a steady flow of fresh threats and protection spells. A robust interaction package of cheap countermagic, spot removal, and asymmetric sweepers like Toxic Deluge and Massacre Wurm controls the board, allowing giant evasive threats to eliminate all three opponents across subsequent combat turns.
