Deck overview

This deck is an optimized Naya combat control and goad strategy commanded by Marisi, Breaker of the Coil. The primary game plan establishes an oppressive combat lock by pairing cheap, unblockable shadow and flying creatures with Marisi's combat damage trigger. Once Marisi connects, all opposing creatures become goaded and are forced to attack each other, completely deflecting aggression away from the pilot while Marisi's static ability silences all opposing spellcasting during combat. As opponents exhaust their life totals and creature boards in mandatory combat, the deck accumulates substantial card advantage through engines like Toski, Bearer of Secrets, Aurelia, the Law Above, and Trouble in Pairs. Robust protection spells including Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention, and Deflecting Swat defend the board against sweepers. When the table is whittled down, the deck cleanly closes the game on Turn 7 using decisive overrun finishers like Beastmaster Ascension, Akroma's Will, and Taunt from the Rampart.
