Deck overview

This is a Golgari landfall value deck helmed by Smeagol, Helpful Guide. The central plan is to trigger landfall repeatedly to generate tokens (Clues, Food, Treasures), then sacrifice those tokens to trigger Smeagol's end-step ability, which tempts the Ring and steals lands from opponents. The stolen lands ramp you while denying opponents, enabling massive creatures like Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer and Old Man Willow and fueling drain effects from Mirkwood Bats and Blood Artist. The deck lacks instant-speed combos or fast mana, instead aiming to grind out incremental advantage over many turns. It wins through combat damage from large, trampling creatures or by draining the table with sacrifice triggers. The commander is a key engine but not irreplaceable; the deck can function without him as a landfall token generator.
