Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Zombie tribal strategy commanded by Varina, Lich Queen. Its primary plan involves deploying efficient Zombies on the opening turns, casting Varina on Turn 4, and utilizing her combat trigger to sculpt the hand while loading the graveyard with high-impact creatures. In the midgame, the deck capitalizes on its stocked graveyard using recursion spells like Living Death and Zombie Apocalypse, while tribal lords such as Death Baron, Undead Warchief, and Diregraf Captain convert wide token boards into lethal threats. Aristocrat pieces like Wayward Servant and Corpse Knight drain opponents on creature entry, providing life totals that pad survival while grinding down the table. Interaction is concise and efficient, featuring unconditional exile and hard counters to protect key setup turns. Although weak to exile sweepers and graveyard hate, the deck boasts strong independent backup engines through The Scarab God and Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver to close games reliably around Turn 8.
