Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet Spellslinger Voltron deck helmed by Livaan, Cultist of Tiamat and Sword Coast Sailor. The strategy focuses on casting noncreature spells to drastically boost Livaan's attack power while leveraging the Background's ability to make Livaan unblockable when attacking the player with the highest life total. The list runs a dense package of rummage and Treasure-generating spells like Big Score and Unexpected Windfall to smooth draws, fill the graveyard, and ramp into expensive, high-impact sorceries. In the mid-game, massive mana value spells such as Temporal Trespass, Surge to Victory, and Mnemonic Deluge trigger Livaan for double-digit power buffs, enabling one-shot commander eliminations. Multi-target finishers like Chandra's Ignition and extra combat spells such as Savage Beating allow the deck to close out the remaining opponents. The list is supported by cheap hexproof protection, cost reducers, and flexible bounce interaction.
