Deck overview

This deck is a focused Boros combat deck commanded by Sephiroth, Fallen Hero. The primary game plan revolves around deploying low-cost modified creatures—utilizing equipment, +1/+1 counters, and For Mirrodin! tokens—during the opening three turns. Once Sephiroth, Fallen Hero lands on Turn 4 or 5 and attacks, its Jenova Cells ability sets the base power and toughness of every modified creature to 7/5. This sudden stat inflation turns small utility creatures and double-strike threats like Swiftblade Vindicator and Blade Historian into massive lethal attackers. The deck backs up this aggressive clock with high-tier defensive phasing spells such as Clever Concealment and Dawn's Truce, preventing opponents from resetting the board with sweepers. Graveyard recursion on the commander ensures rapid recovery if disruption occurs, enabling the deck to systematically eliminate the table across Turns 5 through 7.
