Deck overview

This Abzan deck focuses on a toughness-matters combat strategy commanded by Felothar the Steadfast. The deck spends the opening turns deploying low-cost, high-toughness creatures with defender such as Wall of Omens, Wall of Roots, and Fortified Rampart. Once Felothar the Steadfast enters the battlefield on Turn 4, all defenders can attack and deal combat damage using their toughness instead of their power. This converts defensive utility creatures into undercosted, high-power attackers. Felothar also provides a powerful card-draw engine by sacrificing high-toughness creatures to draw cards equal to toughness while discarding none. The deck applies heavy combat pressure by Turn 5 using asymmetric pump and evasion spells like Tower Defense, Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa, and Akroma's Will, while breaking parity on asymmetric sweepers like Slaughter the Strong. It closes out games on Turn 7 through multi-opponent combat swings while protecting its board with targeted hexproof and indestructible spells.
