Commander: The Howling Abomination

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

A Gruul spellslinger deck that uses Zada, Hedron Grinder as the hidden commander, with The Howling Abomination as a haste-y payoff. The real plan is to resolve Zada or Mirrorwing Dragon, make a wide creature board, and cast cheap single-target instants and sorceries; each copy triggers the commander's +2/+2 and ping, draws cards through cantrips, and makes treasures with Storm-Kiln Artist. The finished line is one huge trampling/double-strike commander attack while Kediss spreads the damage to all opponents. Secondary lines win through Guttersnipe damage, Venerated Rotpriest poison, or Absorbing Man and Titania doubling a token army. The commander's haste and target-trigger make it an ideal finisher, but the engine is the deck's true identity.
