Deck overview

Malik, Grim Manipulator headlines a ruthless Mardu aristocrats and forced-sacrifice deck designed to turn opposing creatures into economic dominance. The strategy centers on deploying early mana rocks, resolving Malik on turn 4, and repeatedly triggering his sacrifice ability through blink effects like Ephemerate and Teleportation Circle. As opponents lose creatures, Malik floods the board with Treasure tokens. This mana surplus fuels devastating asymmetric attrition engines such as Grave Pact, Archfiend of Depravity, and Portal to Phyrexia, systematically dismantling opposing creature development. Simultaneously, theft payoffs like Tergrid, God of Fright and Gisa, Glorious Resurrector reanimate opposing threats under your control. The deck closes games around turn 7 by weaponizing its Treasure hoard through drain aristocrats like Marionette Apprentice and Nadier's Nightblade, triggering Revel in Riches, or casting game-ending sorceries like Rise of the Dark Realms and Insurrection. While lacking countermagic, its sheer removal density and overwhelming resource generation make it exceptionally resilient and oppressive.
