Deck overview

This deck is a high-power mono-black aristocrats and combo engine commanded by Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. The primary game plan revolves around generating cheap creature fodder, casting Yawgmoth on Turn 4, and leveraging his activated ability to control opposing boards while drawing through the library. On Turn 5, the deck transitions into a lethal win condition by pairing Yawgmoth with two undying creatures (such as Geralf's Messenger and Butcher Ghoul) or Nest of Scarabs alongside a drain effect like Blood Artist or Bastion of Remembrance. The counters from Yawgmoth reset undying creatures indefinitely, generating infinite death triggers and draining all opponents to zero life in a single turn. Backup strategies include asymmetric board locks with Maha, Its Feathers Night, storming through the library with Bolas's Citadel, or proliferating poison counters using infect threats like Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon.
