Deck overview

This deck is a classic mono-blue spellslinger tempo strategy commanded by Talrand, Sky Summoner. The primary game plan focuses on deploying Talrand by Turn 4, then converting every piece of interaction, card draw, and cantrip into an evasive army of 2/2 flying Drake tokens. A dense suite of cheap counterspells such as Counterspell, Fierce Guardianship, and Force of Will ensures that key opposing threats and board wipes are answered while building board presence simultaneously. The deck utilizes low-cost cantrips like Ponder, Preordain, and Brainstorm to smooth draws and maintain spell velocity. Secondary token creators like Murmuring Mystic and late-game finishers like Rise from the Tides provide redundant win conditions. Tempo spells like Sleep and Ensnare disable opposing defenses to let the Drake swarm close out the game over multiple combat steps.
