Deck overview

This deck is a resilient Grixis Midrange strategy built around Sauron, the Dark Lord. It leverages efficient artifact ramp to deploy Sauron ahead of curve on Turn 5. Once on the battlefield, Sauron punishes opponents for casting spells by continuously growing an Orc Army. Combat connections trigger the Ring tempting mechanic, allowing the pilot to discard depleted hands and draw four fresh cards each turn. This card advantage engine fuels graveyard synergies through reanimation spells, token generation, and creature-based attrition. While the deck lacks compact two-card infinite combos, it steadily grinds down opponents through large evasive threats, Wraith tokens from Lord of the Nazgûl, and lethal combat swings backed by Assault on Osgiliath. Sauron's oppressive ward ability shields him from targeted removal, making the deck exceptionally hard to disrupt outside of unconditional board wipes.
