Deck overview

This is a mono-black life-gain drain deck helmed by Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, built around the classic "whenever you gain life, opponents lose life" engine. Vito is the cheapest of five redundant drain effects (alongside Sanguine Bond, Marauding Blight-Priest, Defiant Bloodlord, and Enduring Tenacity), and the deck's primary win is the infinite loop between any drain effect and Bloodthirsty Conqueror - life gain triggers drain, drain triggers life gain, looping to kill the table. Backup wins include big X-spell drains (Exsanguinate via the two Stensian Sanguinist copies, Blood Tribute, Shard of the Nightbringer), Aetherflux Reservoir storm-life, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel devotion. A Vampire subtheme (Sanguine Syphoner, Creeping Bloodsucker, Vein Ripper) provides incremental drain, while K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth and Vilis, Broker of Blood form a powerful life-payment draw engine.
