Hydra by user6032888

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This Sultai X-matters build uses Zaxara, the Exemplary as a mana engine and token factory. The primary plan is to ramp into the commander, then resolve counter doublers such as Branching Evolution, Doubling Season, and Corpsejack Menace so every {X} spell creates a huge Hydra board. Simic Ascendancy provides an independent counter-based win, while Kalonian Hydra and Primordial Hydra close games through combat. Exsanguinate and Villainous Wealth are flexible alternate spending outlets once a large mana pool is built. There is no double-faced commander or hidden commander; Zimone, Primo, and Gargos serve as support lieutenants for the X-cost strategy.
